Registering a Company in Türkiye as a Non-Resident

A non-resident may establish a company in Türkiye without a Turkish shareholder. Much of the preparation can be coordinated remotely, and the official guide recognises a notarised power of attorney for a representative. Remote does not mean signature-free: document legalisation, official Turkish translations, identity checks and bank onboarding still depend on the founder, the issuing country and the receiving institution.

Design the authority carefully

A power of attorney should match the actual tasks: registry, tax number, signatures and other named authorities as needed. A broad template from another transaction may not cover the intended filing.

Separate registration from banking

The company can be registered before a bank finishes its customer review. Shareholder nationality, business model, expected flows and source-of-funds evidence may affect the bank's process.

Documents and preparation

  • Passport copy prepared to the required standard
  • Proof of address and contact details
  • Corporate records and resolutions if the shareholder is a company
  • Apostille or consular certification where applicable
  • Official Turkish translations
  • Transaction-specific power of attorney

Risks and checkpoints

  • Using a generic power of attorney
  • Sending originals before confirming format
  • Booking travel without a written task list
  • Assuming every bank supports remote onboarding
  • Using an address that cannot receive official notices

Frequently asked questions

No general nationality restriction applies to shareholders, although sector-specific rules can exist.

Can a representative follow the registration?

The official guide recognises a notarised power of attorney with authority for the relevant registry and official procedures.

Can the bank account always be opened remotely?

No. Each bank applies its own customer identification and risk checks.

Do documents issued abroad need extra steps?

Usually they require the applicable notarisation and apostille or consular certification route, followed by official Turkish translation.
